Divine genealogy and Imitatio Alexandri The plate considers divine or triumphal attributes that first became peculiar elements in Alexander the Great's portraits, and then characterized Hellenistic kings and Roman emperors: the leontè of Herakles, the horns of Ammon and the exuviae elephantis. The plate is divided into three bands and can be read from left to right, following a chronological development that takes also into account the connection model-copy: on the left one can see divine archetypes, in the middle Alexander's portraits, and finally on the right the images of his imitators.
